đ Twitterâs Edit Button Is Here (For Some), Spooky Season & TikTok Eyes E-Commerce
Welcome to Prosekâs Digital Download: the best digital marketing newsletter in financial services
Spooky szn is in full swing and that means Chipotleâs âBooritoâ is just around the corner. For the first time, Chipotle is enlisting BeReal for their Boorito promotion. Iâm not exactly sure how I'll make it to Chipotle in costume within 2 minutes of getting my BeReal notification⌠but Iâll try!Â
Listen, Iâm all about being real and have jumped right into the BeReal craze (although the sad behind-the-scenes look into my day-to-day life turns out to just be a bunch of BeReal of me either at work, training for the marathon or studying) it feels a little forced to have users âBe Realâ while wearing their costumes at a Chipotle. Isnât Halloween the time to be someone else? Maybe Iâm reading too much into this, but being a fan of the holiday, this is an important conversation.Â
Speaking of Halloween, I may or may not have gotten my costume idea from TikTok... and if you couldnât already tell; brands are making a huge push around this upcoming holiday. While my costume didnât make the Snapchat filter cut, you can catch me on Halloween doing my best Mia Farrow impression from Rosemaryâs Baby.
In this edition, weâll review the latest updates across social media, like Twitterâs âeditâ button, Snapchatâs Halloween-themed AR shopping tool and TikTokâs push to integrate e-commerce into the app. No tricks in here, only treats - enjoy!

Social Media
Make Edits To Your Tweets: Twitter will be gradually rolling out the long awaited edit button feature to US Twitter Blue subscribers. To see if a tweet has been edited, look for a little pencil icon on tweets in your feed or in tweets themselves. If you want to see the edit history, click on a tweet and then on the pencil. Tweets can be edited up to five times and only 30 minutes after someone has posted the tweet.
TikTokâs Fulfillment Center Plans: TikTok is planning to build its own product fulfillment centers in the U.S., creating an e-commerce supply chain system that could directly challenge Amazon, as indicated by more than a dozen new job openings posted in the past two weeks to LinkedIn. The move signifies TikTok's commitment to e-commerce as its next major revenue stream, following the explosive growth of its ads business.
Customizable Facebook Feeds: Facebook has added new âShow moreâ or âShow lessâ buttons on posts from the people and communities that youâre connected to or on posts that are recommended to you. Facebook is also going to start testing the new feature with Reels. Facebook also announced today that itâs testing new settings to allow users to customize how much content they see in their feed from the friends and family, Groups, Pages and public figures theyâre connected to.Â
Use Snapchatâs AR To Try On Halloween Costumes: Adding to a list of brands itâs partnered with, Snap has teamed up with Disguise to let users try Halloween costumes from Disguiseâs 2022 collection using Snapchatâs AR shopping tool. Snapchat users can try on and purchase costumes from âHarry Potter,â âThe Office,â âChucky,â Minecraft, Power Rangers, Transformers and more.
Signal Jumps On the Story Bandwagon: Like every other social media service, Signal has decided to roll out a stories feature to beta users. They'll work similarly to how they do on other social media apps â you can upload an image, a video, or text to your stories, and it'll be visible to your contacts for the next 24 hours.

Netflix Is Hoping for a 5-star Nielsen Rating: Netflix announced last Thursday that they will start using Nielsenâs digital audience measurement in the U.S. to give advertisers an understanding of its reach. The Nielsen ratings will start sometime in 2023, marking the first time the streaming giant will have the ratings available for its content. Nielsen is the go-to ratings agency for broadcast and cable-TV shows, allowing the advertising industry to have an idea of the size of the audiences reached by various programming.Â
Mobile Games See a Boost In Ad Traffic: Publishers like Vanity Fair, Complex and The LA TImes are buying traffic from Subway Surfers, one of the most popular mobile-app games in the world using a practice called ârewarded inventory,â where players can earn in-game rewards for sitting through advertisements. But in this case, instead of sitting through a commercial, users are expected to scroll through articles. Industry folks told Marketing Brew this type of incentivized traffic is largely a gray area in the world of publisher-advertiser agreements.
Bloomberg Media Is Sunsetting Programmatic Ads: Bloomberg Media will stop serving open-market third-party programmatic display advertising on both its website and mobile app, Bloomberg will also discontinue its use of vendors whose recommendation products divert traffic away from the Bloomberg website, such as Taboola.
Instagram Rolls Out Two New Ad Slots: Following another quarter that saw marketers pull back on their ad spending, Meta announced a slew of product updates for advertisers, including a music catalog for advertisers and a new ad format for Facebook Reels. The company said it will now allow advertisers to run ads on the Explore home page and in profile feeds.
Chipotleâs âBooritoâ Is Back: Chipotle is bringing back its in-person âBooritoâ tradition after two digital-only installments. For the first time, Chipotle will also take to BeReal for the âBooritoâ promotion, commanding users to be present and in costume at a Chipotle location when they get a notification that itâs âTime to BeReal.â

Congress Wants The FTC To Create a Bureau Dedicated To Privacy: A section of the American Data Privacy Protection Act (ADPPA), which is now eligible for a floor vote in the House, could fundamentally change how consumer privacy is protected and enforced in the US. The proposed creation of a Bureau of Privacy, which would be a part of the Federal Trade Commission, would broaden the scope and definition of how the regulator could enforce the law. While the final version of the bill is likely to change, the BOP would be responsible for both playing referee and rulemaker, creating more definitive regulations outlined in the bill and enforcing them.Â
